Sunset At Cottonwood Pass (Snowy Rocky Mountains At The Continental Divide - May 25, 2007)
Cottonwood Pass in Colorado is finally open to vehicular traffic and with the night free, it was a perfect time to photograph the sunset. The view to the west is where the best color shows were happening obviously. The adjacent shot is a preliminary photo as the sun slowly began to set.
Cottonwood Pass serves as part of the
Continental Divide of North America. Yep, everything your see in the adjacent photo would theoretically flow to the Pacific Ocean, while everywhere behind this view would flow to the Atlantic Ocean. Notice all the snow that still remains way up there in the heart of the Rocky Mountains!
A close-up of the sun setting.
Occasionally when I'm at mountain passes,
I have tried to include the official sign in the photo.
While there was still sunlight, I included a shot of me amidst some of the snow! :)
